This week’s tip comes from one of our regional account directors, Jack Malone. With more than three years in the IT channel, Jack has seen the number of attacks his partners face increase tremendously. To help SMB customers understand the severity of today’s attacks, Jack shared this MSP tip:

“When it comes to security in cloud-based and hosted environments, end users assume that their environments are completely protected. However, the truth of the matter is that services like Office 365 only offer users the base level of security at no cost. While it may be hard for MSPs to sell into this environment, using Barracuda’s Email Threat Scanner can help you point out all the threats that are existing in their email accounts that are missed by Office 365’s base level security.”

The Barracuda Email Threat Scanner is a free tool provided by Barracuda to help detect malicious threats that may have bypassed traditional filters. To find out more about this tool or to scan your customers’ Office 365 environment, use this link.

3 Ways to offer the next layer of security to your customers

When it comes to security, spam filtering and anti-virus just aren’t enough—especially with today’s advanced threats. Here are three things you can leverage to deliver the next layer of security.

Barracuda’s Email Threat Scanner. This a free tool available from Barracuda that can help you start the security conversation with your customers. We understand that it’s not always be easy to talk to customers about these issues when they think they already have sufficient security precautions in place. Rather than waiting for the conversation to happen after a customer finds out the hard way that they aren’t doing enough, use this tool to show how many threats have bypassed the Office 365 filter. Check out the email threat scanner here.

Barracuda Essentials for Email Security. This is the next level of security your SMB customers have been waiting for. Help your customers detect and prevent malicious threats such as ransomware and zero-day threats. Still worried that your SMBs might be susceptible to phishing attacks? Barracuda Essentials for Email Security includes typosquatting protection which detects and blocks suspicious links. Cloud-to-Cloud Backup for Office 365. When it comes to security, it’s important to always have a solid backup strategy — not only for your customers’ data but often their emails as well. If your customers do fall victim to an attack such as ransomware, having a backup strategy can help you recover customer’s data. To learn more about cloud-to-cloud backup for Office 365, click here.

By using these three tools and leveraging Jack’s advice, you can help keep your SMB customers protected in cloud-based and hosted environments.
