For the past two years, our team has been the MSP-dedicated business unit of Barracuda. In that time, we’ve expanded our solution set — adding backup appliances; next-generation firewalls; and email security, archiving, and backup for Office 365 environments — and entered the European market. Every step we’ve made along the way has been driven by our focus on helping our MSP partners protect their customers’ data and build successful businesses.
That’s why we’re excited to announce our new name: Barracuda MSP. The change brings together the strength of the Barracuda brand with our unwavering commitment to the MSP community.
To give you a closer look at the new brand, as well as some other exciting announcements about enhancements to the ECHOplatform, and some new partner enablement initiatives, I sat down with Brian Babineau, senior vice president and general manager of Barracuda MSP.

Why is the brand changing?
We wanted to make our position as the MSP-dedicated business unit of Barracuda clear to both our current MSP partners and service providers that are interested in working with us. Barracuda has a strong brand, and this name change helps us build on the strength of that brand to help our MSP partners provide their customers with the best possible solutions. It also puts our MSP focus front and center. As I like to put it, our team around the world thinks, speaks, and breathes MSP all-day long. We truly are dedicated to your success as an MSP, and we want our brand to reflect that.
Is the Intronis brand going away completely?
No. The Intronis name will live on as part of the backup portfolio. As part of the rebranding, the Intronis backup solution will now be known as Barracuda Intronis Backup – MSP.
What’s new on the ECHOplatform?
Today we also announced two exciting new enhancements in the most recent version of the ECHOplatform, our purpose-built MSP platform, where historically Intronis Backup has resided.
- Provisioning and Activation – MSP partners can easily provision and activate Barracuda Backup appliances, Essentials for Office 365, and Essentials for Email Security products from within the ECHOplatform
- Single Sign-On – MSP partners using the ECHOplatform will now enjoy single sign-on with Barracuda Cloud Control to conveniently administer all their Barracuda solutions
How do these updates help MSPs?
This release represents a major milestone in the integration of ECHOplatform and Barracuda Cloud Control, something we’ve been working toward since Barracuda acquired Intronis. We want to give our MSP partners more efficient access to our growing solution-set, and these ECHOplatform enhancements do just that.
What enablement and education initiatives is the team rolling out?
To complement our existing partner enablement resources, we’re introducing two new programs designed to help IT channel providers find managed services success, whether they’ve already embraced the managed services model or are looking to incorporate managed services into their offering.
- SmarterMSP.com – This is a global destination website to help MSPs improve their business and stay current on industry trends and IT channel thought leadership
- Ready, Set, Managed! – An exclusive, interactive education and networking program for VARs and MSPs that want to learn best practices for growing their managed services operations
