Introducing Content Shield: Protection against web-based threats for MSPs

Posted by Lindsay Faria on Sep 13, 2018 10:33:53 AM

Domain Name System (DNS) server attacks are becoming a more prevalent threat than ever, and MSPs and their customers need to be prepared. According to a new study by EfficientIP, 77 percent of organizations surveyed reported experiencing a DNS attack thus far in 2018. The global frequency of these attacks is on the rise, as are the costs associated with them. The survey shows that the average cost of a DNS attack in the U.S. alone has climbed 57 percent over the past year to $654,000 in 2018.

What happens at IT Nation won’t stay at IT Nation

Posted by Lindsay Faria on Nov 13, 2017 4:21:27 PM

I’m back in the office after an eventful visit to Orlando last week for the IT Nation conference. During our three days there, the Barracuda MSP team engaged directly with more than 700 MSPs, VARs, and other service providers. Between countless conversations with those looking for new ways to grow their businesses via security and data protection solutions, we found time to show off our new integration for ConnectWise Automate, and even to play some Mario Kart with our Partners in our Recharge Lounge. Here are few observations and insights that I gleaned from the experience:

Whether you’re a VAR, break-fix service provider, or even an MSP that’s getting started, the thought of adding or expanding your managed services offering doesn’t need to be a daunting one — as long as you take advantage of the resources available to you and learn from the experiences of those who’ve walked the path to managed services success before you.

I recently had the pleasure of working with some of our Partners and my colleagues to produce an online panel-style session discussing just this topic, and I have to say, it was a very interesting conversation! Here are the four pieces of advice that stuck with me:

Posted by Lindsay Faria on Mar 14, 2017 8:59:32 AM

As cybercriminals become more duplicitous by the day, businesses and individuals alike need to be more aware than ever of their digital surroundings. One example of this was recently highlighted on the Barracuda blog: Resume files containing Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs).

This threat counts on unsuspecting email recipients to open a .doc file supposedly containing a resume from a job applicant. From there, chaos ensues.

2 MSP resolutions and how to keep them

Posted by Lindsay Faria on Feb 15, 2017 9:30:00 AM

It’s hard to believe we’re already well into the second month of 2017. According to the Statistic Brain Research Institute, more than 40 percent of people who made New Year’s Resolutions have given them up by now. So if you’re one of the committed ones — congratulations!

A few weeks ago, I was chatting with some of our Partners to learn more about what their resolutions for 2017 were (both professionally and personally), and I was surprised at how clearly a couple of trends defined themselves. Literally 100 percent of the ‘personal’ resolutions had to do with personal health and fitness. Awesome! And, there were trends just as clearly defined when it came to our Partners’ professional goals. Apparently, MSPs are heavily invested in two key areas in 2017:
