For the past two years, our team has been the MSP-dedicated business unit of Barracuda. In that time, we’ve expanded our solution set — adding backup appliances; next-generation firewalls; and email security, archiving, and backup for Office 365 environments — and entered the European market. Every step we’ve made along the way has been driven by our focus on helping our MSP partners protect their customers’ data and build successful businesses.

Recurring revenues, especially those tied to managed IT security services, are the primary catalyst for market relativity, business viability, and growth according to a recent study from Intronis MSP Solutions by Barracuda and The 2112 Group.

The State of North America Managed Services research, conducted in May 2017, found the average channel partner earns up to 30 percent of its revenue and as much as 20 percent of its profit from managed services. Threat Watch: NotPetya ransomware

Posted by Anne Campbell on Jun 27, 2017 4:19:51 PM

Update: As researchers learn more about the malware that quickly spread around the world earlier this week, it has become clear the malware wasn't what it first appeared to be. According to Forbes, multiple security researchers have uncovered flaws in the code that indicate the ransomare now known as NotPetya was designed to cause destruction, not make money. Infected computers become unrecoverable due to the faulty encrpytion, and BleepingComputer reports that victims have stopped paying the ransom. Because Ukraine was a primary target in the attack, a popular theory now suggests that the attack could have been politically motivated

Have you and your customers started to rest easy now that it's been a month since the WannaCry ransomware attack hit more than 100 countries around the globe? Well, a new strain of Petya ransomware wants to change that.

And, let's hope you and your customers all learned your lesson and got around to patching the EternalBlue vulnerability because this new strain is picking up where WannaCry left off.

Posted by Anne Campbell on Jun 6, 2017 3:39:48 PM

Efficiency is a key part of running a successful MSP, and managing routine backup and security services that customers need to keep their data safe can consume valuable technician time that MSPs could spend on more strategic activities. To get a closer look at the new services, how they can help MSPs, and the types of customers they’re a good fit for, we talked to Brian Babineau, general manager of MSP Solutions at Barracuda.

MSP profitability: The real reason you aren’t getting results you want

Posted by Anne Campbell on Apr 26, 2017 11:25:00 AM

For MSPs, it can be easy to fall into the trap of thinking success is just around the corner for your business. You convince yourself that you just need to find a little more time to work on improving your business or hiring the right sales person or tackling any of the items on your to-do list that you keep putting off because you’re too busy putting out fires for your customers.

In our new e-book, The MSP Profitability Playbook: Your Guide to Generating More Revenue and Making Your Business More Successful, Gary Pica of TruMethods calls this phenomenon the “around the corner” mentality. He explains that many of the MSPs he’s met over the years suffer from it.
